WHY SOME WOMEN VAGINAL MAY SMELL

There are many reasons why some women "private" may smell.
The female vaginal contains fluid 'discharge' consisting of certain good bacteria meant to keep the vaginal PH level healthy and normal. However, the vaginal discharge can at times emit certain  foul smells which are at times natural and normal but excess  odor many a times may signal  that there is indeed a  problem a need to the health care provider necessary; especially when such odor is associated with pain, itching or burning.

Few Causes of Vaginal Odor are:
Bacterial Vaginosis siimply refered to as 'BV'  is one of the reasons a woman may have such offensive odor. The vagina  normally comprises of good healthy bacteria, but in a situation where something disturbs the good bacteria, then unhealthy ones  like BV replace them in the vaginal.  BV symptoms may include  a very strong  fishy odor, hitching and grey  or yellowish-green discharge. The odor is stronger and more noticeable after sex when there is  contact with semen. If left untreated, BV  may lead to other infections like Urinary Tract Infections and kidney infections.
BV can easily be treated with antibiotics.

Another reason is sweat in the skin around the genitals which is prone to excessive sweating which when is combined with discharge can change the normal natural smell to some offensive smell, even though this is a natural odor despite the slight unpleasant smell. This unpleasantness may be reduced by wearing breathable clothes and changing clothes after exercising or work.

Hormonal Changes is another thing that cause vaginal odor as the amount of discharge  in the womanliness may vary from one menstrual cycle to another. Menopause  may also  cause some changes as the decreasing estrogen levels can lead to increased yeast infection or BV as the case may be. Hormonal treatments, birth control pills and vaginal creams can  affect the  PH of the vaginal and the odor in the area.

Foods made with ingredients like Garlic, onion, asparagus, and curry are few of the more odoriferous foods known to affect body and vaginal odor.

Supplements or medications  like antibiotics can affect the bacterial balance of the vaginal which may lead to changes in odor and discharge.  While some medications  can lead to vaginal dryness and reduced vaginal discharge, which can also have an effect on the PH of the vaginal.
