WE WILL PUBLISH LOOTERS' NAMES SOON- Buhari

President Buhari, while speaking at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, during the 15th session of the Anyiam-Osigwe Foundation lecture yesterday said, as soon as investigations and further recoveries are made, the Central Bank of Nigeria will publish the names of those who looted the country as well as those who have returned parts of their loots. He said the amount of money voluntarily returned by the looters or those recovered by the government could not be announced to Nigerians now as this action may affect further recoveries or the investigations on-going, but he asked Nigerians to be rest assured that they will be kept in the loop about the situation at the appropriate time.
On Dec 12, President Mohammadu Buhari made it known that his administration will soon be out with the names of those who have returned parts of their loots from the public treasury. This harmonized with what Garba Shehu said in Kaduna that the Presidency would step on toes in the on going anti-corruption fight for the interest of the country.

He said further that, the matter of utmost priority in the minds of Nigerians is having a leader who could absolutely be relied upon to fight corruption without fluttering.

Also that a reasonable amount out of the money have been recovered from public officers that looted the public treasury and also that other public officers who served the nation in the past or are still serving are undergoing investigations at present.
He said, the poor and appalling state of public and social infrastructures, amenities and services in the the country reflect the aftermath of corrupt practices in the country which "must stop, if wee need a new Nigeria. And that was why I said at another forum that people need not fear me, but they must fear the consequences of their actions."

HE repeated that, “Corrupt acts will always be punished, and there will be no friend, no foe. We will strive to do what is fair and just at all times, but people who refuse to embrace probity should have every cause to fear.”

The President further stated that fighting corruption out of the land is a collective responsibility and not his fight alone and all hands should be on deck to build a country where the future generations will live in prosperity and absolute peace.
