Cross River State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr. Ikechukwu Igwe, said in Calabar on Thursday that 149 road offenders caught with expired, fake or non possession of driver's licence while using the highways have been prosecuted by mobile courts in the state between September and October this year.
The statement was made during the decoration of senior officers of the command promoted to various higher ranks and positions recently by the commission.
The Sector Commander said his action to conduct a critical search was motivated by his discovery of the bad conducts of most of the drivers when he just arrived Calabar, especially the commercial drivers in Calabar and its environ. It was after road checks that it was discovered that most of the drivers have fake or expired license while many others do not even have one.
He later warned the promoted officers to be more deligent in discharging their duties as non performance could lead to their demotion.
