Senator Bukola Saraki through his Media Assistant, Bamikole Omishore, assured social network operators and online publishers in Abuja on Friday that the media would by no means be censored by the senate. .
Saraki gave this assurance when the Executive Board of the Online Publishers Association of Nigeria led by their president, Olufemi Awoyemi, visited him over the widely criticized media Prohibition Bill by the Senate ealier this month.
Saraki in his response said he would not be a party to any kind of censorship of the media and that the Senate under his leadership remained committed to transparent, fair and open culture.
But the Senate President implored the group to try their best and adopt international standards and ethics of journalism in discharging their duties.
