SARAKI'S LAWYERS WALKED OUT ON TRIBUNAL

There was a drama at the Supreme Court,Abuja today as the Senate President's group of lawyers consisting 3 Senior Advocates of Nigeria and more than 20 lawyers walked out on the Code of Conduct Tribunal set up to look into 13 count criminal charge against the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.
The legal team through their leader ,Mahmud Magaji (SAN), said taking part in s such legal proceeding which they termed “legal rascality” is not comfortable for them. Another SAN in the group, Mr Ahmed Raji it is going to be disastrous for future references to be made that people of their calibre took part in such legal proceeding. In the words , “ on behalf of the defense counsel, we find it most impossible to continue to sit here. We shall be seeking the indulgence of your Lordships to withdraw our appearance.” This action of the lawyers was condemned by Justice Umar‎, saying “the action of the defence team smacked of disrespect”.
Saraki has however begged the tribunal to give him a month to sway his team to come back or get another set of legal team. But the case has been adjourned till !9th of this month despite his plea for adjournment.
