During
raids in several states, police have arrested several Islamists, who
are said to have possibly planned an assassination attempt in Berlin. According
to information of the German Press Agency security sources said the
main suspect, a 35-year-old Algerian, was arrested on Thursday. A second Algerian was arrested in Berlin. Next is searched according to the police are a 31-year-old in Berlin and a 26-year-olds in Hannover. In Berlin alone, 450 policemen searched four homes and two businesses.During the investigation, a reference of the suspects had surrendered to the civil war Syria. The man is wanted for belonging to the terrorist group IS by Algerian authorities. He allegedly received military training in Syria.

The police received the first indication of the main suspect in NRW by Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. In the further investigation of the man, contacts were found to Islamists in Berlin and Hanover.
