The News agency of Nigeria, NAN, said the Nigeria Army through the Theater Command of Operation has alerted the residents of Borno that Boko Haram terrorists now plan to make use of beggars with other methods to carry out their attacks. This statement was made by the Army Media Coordinator of the Theater, Col. Mustapha Anka, in Maiduguri on Friday Dec 31, 2015.He said the Theater has however advise the public to be extra vigilant during and after the new year celebrations and also remind them of the ban on the use of bangers and fireworks.
Anka said it was discovered that the terrorists' plan was to conceal explosives in firewood bundles and place these bundles in strategic areas in Maiduguri to cause havoc
He explains further that another method the terrorists are also using now is to make the public panic by deceitfully shouting `Boko Haram’ so as cause confusion and "to lure unsuspecting public for maximum casualty while detonating their bombs during and after the new year celebrations.”
He therefore advised residents to be more vigilant during and after the new year celebrations.
