Stakeholders as well as the family of the Fuji legend and originator, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister have put all in place to honor the late musician and to reveal his impacts on African music 5 years after he passed on.
A book titled The Maestro, Barrister’s musical biography, was written and set to be commissioned in his honor by Pastor Akintunde Akinteye who said the late icon's music is rich in Yoruba worldview and philosophy.
The occassion is scheduled to hold at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja on 19 December, 2015. A memorial concert is expected to follow the next day where fuji musicians like Killington Ayinla, Wasiu Ayinde K1 de Ultimate,Adewale Ayuba, , Pasum, Saheed Osupa and many other artistes.
Among the dignitaries expected at the programme are the Governors of Lagos, Oyo and Ogun States as special guests of honor; the Chief launcher is Otunba Adebisi Adesanya; and the Chairman of the occasion, Senator Gbenga Asafa.
The biography writer said, “Barrister was one man in the fuji music world with a record of successive hit albums, all of which would remain evergreen for life. With a total of 146 albums and countless number of performances, he remains the only fuji musician with such a feat.”
