PASTOR POWER AGINIGHAN ASKS FOR THE RELEASE OF EX-NIMASA BOSS

An All Progressives Congress chieftain, in Delta State, Pastor Aginighan, has denounced  the way the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, forcefully re-arrested, Dr Ziakede Akpobolokemi, the immediate ex-Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, at the premises of the Federal High Court, Lagos as morally wrong.
Aginighan, in a statement, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said that the action of the EFCC was uncalled for since Akpobolokemi had never refused to comply whenever he was invited by the security agency.
“I watched with shock, the horrific manner, Akpobolokemi, immediate past Director-General of NIMASA, was bundled into a bus by operatives of EFCC right within the premises of the Federal High Court, Lagos, shortly after the adjournment of a case against him.
Aginighan who is a former acting Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, implored President Buhari to order the release of the detainee, and should also direct the EFCC to act within the confines of the law. And also asked the President  " to distance himself from this debasement of our humanity before the watching world by calling the EFCC to order and order the immediate release of Akpobolokemi.”
“To treat Akpobolokemi who has never refused to honour an invitation by the EFCC as an unrepentant criminal raises serious concerns about the threat posed to our democracy by over-zealous law enforcement agents.”
