KEFFI EMIR DIES AT 70 YEARS OF AGE

Alhaji Mohammadu Chindo Yamusa II,the Emir of Keffi is dead. This was confirmed on Friday at a news conference in Keffi LGA, Nasarawa State, by Alhaji Abdul Usman,the Galadima of Keffi; who also happens to be the Emir's cousin.

The Galadima said the late Emir died in the early hours of Friday in his palace in Keffi after a brief illness.
He also said, “The emir had contributed a lot to the development of not only Keffi, but to the development of Nasarawa State and the entire country while alive,’’ and that “His death is heartbreaking, painful but God gives life and takes it at will."


According to him, the late emir was 70 years old and ascended the throne on May 11, 1978.

He later called on the people of the state to pray for the late Emir's family, stating that the death is a great loss to the Keffi Emirate Council and the entire state.

The final burial and funeral rites for the late Emir is expected to be performed after Juma’at prayer in Keffi according to Islamic teachings.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Yamusa II left two wives and 27 children and many grand children. Also traditional rulers among whom were Alhaji Mustapha Isah Agwai 1,the Emir of Lafia, and other sympathisers have been paying condolence visits to the late emir’s palace in Keffi.
