Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh said the federal Government of Nigeria is set to provide a litre of milk each day for both primary and secondary school pupils in Nigeria under the Federal Government's school feeding program to combat .the issue of malnutrition.
Ogbe said 10 deep water rigs will be acquired from the Borno State Government by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to build windmills to operate wells that will provide water for grazing grounds for the cattle of the ministry by next year; the grazing grounds which he said will not only improve the quality and quantity of beef and milk the country will be producing but they will also make cattle rearers more sedentary.
This was revealed by the Minister in Abuja at a meeting with a team from the West African Milk Company.
According to UNESCO statistics, 24% of Nigerian children under 5 years of age are under weight and 37% are suffering from malnutrition.
