Akinwunmi Ambode, the Lagos State Governor while speaking at the Christmas Eve Dance organised by Lagos Island Club on Thursday said Lagos state will surely record amazing progress in 2016 even though economic predictions for the new year is discouraging.
Ambode said the implementation of the N662. 58 billion budget for 2016 would engender success anchored on the state’s Internally Generated Revenue and that more attention would be paid to e-governance so as to boost service delivery to the people.
He said his government's focus is to lay a foundation for the sustainable development of the state by reducing Government cost through reforms and realignments, good and efficient resource management.
He said meetings are being held with investors who are also willing to invest in the state. He also stated that Federal allocation to the state is getting smaller and "is expected to decline further" and because there is expected to be lower revenue, "inflation and job cuts, we are quietly confident about 2016."
He said, “We are inspired to face the challenges and prepared to maximise the opportunities that will unfold.”
