As a result of inadequate resources and late preparations, the National Population Commission Chairman said the possibility of the 2016 national population and housing census holding is slim.
The chairman said at least two years of adequate preparation is required for the exercise and also that, about 1.1 million enumerators and more than 50,000 supervisors
would be needed by the commission for the conduct of the census, even if the required money for the conduct of the exercise is available, still, the commission can not be ready next year.
He however urged the media to enlighten the public in order to be able to achieve an accurate national population and housing census which has been rescheduled for 2017.
The commission intends to eliminate all forms of manipulation by making use of bio-metric data capturing machines for capturing individual facial and fingerprint data to be able to achieve a credible, verifiable and acceptable census.
