It was like a joke on Thursday evening at about 4pm when an Ultra modern (under construction) Ogun State headquarters of the RCCG was demolished by agents of the state government. The big edifice which is at roofing level, located inside Obasanjo Hiltop Estate, Abeokuta was reduced to rubble.
The reason for the demolition is still unknown. However, RCCG claims, that the building is legal and that there are appropriate document to that effect.
This, many believe may not be unconnected to the power tussel between the governor and the pastor in charge of the church, Hon. Remmy Hassan.
Hon Remmy Hassan, was member of the Ogun state house of assembly and was known to be anti SIA. He was made protem speaker of the house after fourteen members of the house suspended the then speaker Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi.
Hon. Remmy Hassan, announced immidiate suspension of Hon. Adekunbi (Speaker), Hon. Tola Banjo (Deputy Speaker), Hon. Isreal Jolaosho and Hon. Kunle Oluomo based on the allegation of cosy relationship with the governor Sen. Ibikunle Amosun.
On the other hand, Hon. Adekunbi also announced the suspension of Hon. Remmy Hassan, Hon. Olufemi Akintan and other two for un-parliamentary behaviour and gross disrespect to the legislative institution.
Many also believe that the demolition has nothing to do with politics.
